Careers in Government Social Research

The skills and competencies required to work as a government social researcher are set out in the Government Social Research competency framework.

The Government Social Research website is a good source of information on what it is like to work as a government researcher, the skills and qualifications required and how to find out about vacancies.

Student placements

The Welsh Government can offer a limited number of work placement opportunities for social science undergraduates interested in careers in government social research. Placements are usually based in Cardiff and last for 50 weeks.
