In November 2007, CRG Research Limited were commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government’s Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills to conduct an evaluation of the ReAct programme. This report summarises the findings of the evaluation up to the end of January 2008.

The ReAct programme builds on the original Redundancy Action Fund, established by the West Wales Training and Enterprise Council in 1999 to mitigate the effects of the redundancies created at the Lucas factory in Ystradgynlais.

The aim of ReAct is

to prevent long-term unemployment by providing pathways to employment for those recently or about to become unemployed.

In order to achieve this, the programme offers financial support to assist individuals through four main funding streams. This report recommends retaining and building on a number of characteristics of ReAct in any comparable future programme.
