I am launching a consultation on intra-Wales scheduled air services at 10am today.

This is the first time that the development of intra-Wales scheduled air services has been considered systematically.  The consultation document sets out various network options and the investment necessary to develop both air services and airport infrastructure to an appropriate standard.  It also considers the economic and environmental impacts of developing the services.

The consultation runs through to the end of April.  I will be putting a paper to the Economic Development and Transport Committee on 17 March as well as seeking views in plenary.

A copy of the Press Notice is attached for your information.  The consultation document is available on the transport pages of the National Assembly’s web-site.  A paper copy will be sent to all Assembly Members.
