Funding for the Tir Mynydd Scheme

The Assembly Government has been asked to clarify the funding position for the Tir Mynydd scheme. This follows publication of information from an internal Assembly Government data source that shows total provision of £36 million for Tir Mynydd in respect of 2006-2007. This compares to the £24 million that the Minister for Environment, Planning and Countryside announced in May, following consultation on future arrangements for Tir Mynydd, post-2006.

The information published relates to the Tir Cymru budget expenditure line (BEL) that, in addition to Tir Mynydd, also covers funding for Tir Gofal, Tir Cynnal and other associated agri-environment activity. The details within the data source are incorrect. Internal financial management processes were not properly followed to update accounts within the Tir Cymru BEL.

Action is now underway to ensure that the data source is corrected. The Tir Cymru budget provision for 2006-2007 is as follows:
