Sue Essex, Minister For Finance, Local Government and Public Services
You will have heard my Statement in the Chamber last week when I undertook to provide members with fuller details of the estimated outturn costs of the New Building Project.

You will recall that my estimated view of the outturn costs was either a little above or a little below the £67m reported previously.  I am now pleased to be able to report that the estimated outturn costs is £65.8m (incl VAT) and I set the breakdown of all these figures below including the contingency figure to a maximum of £2m i.e 5% of the construction cost element of the project.

I understand that since my statement the House Committee has now decided to proceed with a Managed Service Option for the long term support of the ICT. This provides better value for money and has the effect of decreasing the capital element and moving money to longer term revenue payments. I will be discussing the implications of this arrangement with the House Committee.
