I am today drawing to the attention of the Assembly, the publication of a report on Performance & Excellence Sport in Wales.

The report is the outcome of a 6 month review conducted by independent consultants between January – July 2009.  During the review, the consultants interviewed a range of stakeholders in Wales and across the UK, including the Sports Council for Wales, UK Sport, GB/UK and national governing bodies of sport and athletes and coaches. 

The report proposes a set of recommendations to inform the development of policy and strategy for Performance and Excellence Sport in Wales.  I will announce before the Assembly on 17th November 2009 how the Welsh Assembly Government intends to respond to the report’s recommendations.
