I am today drawing to the attention of the National Assembly for Wales, the publication of the Welsh Assembly Government’s first Museums Strategy for Wales.

Museums in Wales play a crucial role in preserving our culture and making it available for everyone to enjoy. The strategy asks museums to encourage the involvement of more volunteers, contribute to cultural tourism, promote and develop the Welsh language, share collections across Wales and attract more young people and those from ethnic minorities.

I shall be launching the Museums Strategy this morning at Wales’ oldest museum, Swansea Museum.
