Written Statement - Sustainable Social Services in Wales: A Framework for Action

I am writing to let you know that I will today be publishing a Paper on the future of social services in Wales.  

These are challenging times for all public services.  The changing nature of Welsh society, demographic change and new expectations from those who receive services – coupled with the present difficult financial climate – are all making unprecedented demands upon social services.  

The Paper puts in place a framework for meeting these challenges and for re-shaping and re-focusing social services in order to ensure that they remain strong, and can continue to meet citizens’ needs and aspirations.        

I will also be making a statement in plenary on 1st March 2011.
