Development of the civil service in Wales since devolution

The civil service that supports the Welsh Government numbered 6,100 staff in March 2009, representing just 16.8 % of the civil servants working in Wales. Its current make up reflects the successful development of devolution itself, and compares favourably with other government departments and bodies.
