James Price

James rejoined the organisation in April 2006, this followed a two year posting in the North East of England where he worked as Head of Business and Skills for the English Development Agency One NorthEast.

James is a professional economist by training and background having held a number of different roles working with the UK Government, and in Wales, where he was Chief Economist for the then Welsh Development Agency.

James was appointed to the role of Director, Transport and Regeneration in 2007 (Transport Housing and Regeneration from 2009), a group which as a result of the Economic Renewal Programme saw its remit extended to include all aspects of the Department for the Economy and Transport infrastructure policy and delivery.

James was appointed Director General for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science in 2011 (from March 2013, Economy, Science and Transport).
