June Milligan

Raised and educated in her native Scotland, June spent the first six years of her public service career in front-line operational delivery as a Governor in long-term and maximum security prisons.

She moved with her family to Wales, joining the Welsh Office in 1989. Between 1993 and 1996 she worked in a diplomatic role at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office UK Representation to the EU in Brussels.  She returned to Wales in 2000 following four years in London where she was Principal Private Secretary to three successive Secretaries of State for Wales.

Back in Wales following devolution, June was Head of Environment from 2000 to 2006 and she then served as a Board Member as Business Development Director between 2006 to 2009.

June was appointed to the role of Director for Social Justice and Local Government Department in April 2009 and is now Director General and Accounting Officer for Local Government and Communities.

June has MA, PhD and BD qualifications, and has studied at INSEAD.
