The Programme for Government is our plan of action. It represents a real commitment to delivery, measured by the impact government is actually having on people’s lives.

In May 2011, shortly after voting overwhelmingly for greater powers in a national referendum, the people of Wales elected a Welsh Government with renewed ambition for our country.

Our manifesto set out the difference we want to make to the lives of people in Wales: healthy people living productive lives in a more prosperous and innovative economy; safer and more cohesive communities, with lower levels of poverty and greater equality, a resilient environment with more sustainable use of our natural resources and a society with a vital sense of its own culture and heritage.

Carwyn Jones, First Minister of Wales

The Programme for Government sets out specific actions we're taking, how we'll judge whether these are on track and how we assess progress in tackling the long-term challenges facing Wales. It is a working document. Annual updates will monitor our progress in delivering the programme.
