This consultation is on the Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) for the 2007 – 2013 Structural Funds Programmes in Wales.

The purpose of the EIAs is to assess whether the implementation of the Structural Fund Programmes is having an adverse impact on people of different equality groups.  They also highlight opportunities for the Programmes to promote equality across the different groups.

The focus is on the following equality groups:

  • Age,
  • Gender,
  • Transgender,
  • Sexual Orientation, and,
  • Religion.

The EIAs follow on from EIAs for Disability and Race which were completed in 2008.

How we will use the EIAs

We will use the EIAs in the following ways:

  • To provide advice and guidance to our project sponsors, to help them ensure that their activities do not adversely affect people of different equality groups,
  • To help project sponsors promote equality across the different equality groups,
  • To inform the development of any Structural Funds Programme in Wales.
