Consultation

A Living Wales – a new framework for our environment, our countryside and our seas

Demands on the environment are increasing because of climate change, human activity and other factors. Until now we have usually looked at parts of the environment separately. This means we have underestimated the importance of the environment in our lives. Our new approach focuses on managing our environment as a whole rather than focusing on separate parts.
Start of consultation: 15/09/2010
End of consultation: 31/12/2010

This consultation document set out our new approach to the way we manage our land, water and seas. It also showed what steps have already been taken in response to the failure to meet the 2010 biodiversity targets.

The document was designed to set a broad direction of travel for our future work. Your responses and suggestions to the consultation have directly informed this work.

The consultation was launched to gather your views and ideas and evidence of work that is helping nature in Wales.

Most of these documents are available at the bottom of this page:

  • the definitions - what do the technical terms mean?
  • the narrative - what is the detailed thinking behind this?
  • the case studies - examples of action that is being taken to help ecosystems in Wales
  • the tools - describes how we might provide simple tools to help decision making
