Consultation
Consultation on the revision of the Healthcare Standards for Wales
Background
The Healthcare Standards for Wales were first published in 2005 and it was always intended that they be subject to periodic review. This consultation therefore sets out proposals to update and revise the existing set of standards to come into force from April 2010.
Since their inception, NHS organisations have used the Healthcare Standards for Wales framework to help drive improvements in the standards of services for which they are responsible. In the past three years NHS bodies have demonstrated progress against the standards through an annual assessment enabling their patients and local communities to see what they are doing well and where they plan to do better. Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) will be reviewing their processes for assessing compliance and progress against the healthcare standards.
Purpose
To enable the views of all stakeholders and service users to be expressed and considered and provides an opportunity for you to be able to shape the final standards.
