Consultation: Delivering digital inclusion - A strategic framework for Wales

The Welsh Assembly Government is committed to help break down the barriers for the 900,000 adults who are digitally excluded in Wales.
Start of consultation: 17/06/2010
End of consultation: 16/09/2010

Through this Framework, the Welsh Assembly Government makes clear that it intends to bring clear strategic leadership, but recognises that progress can only be made through the concerted efforts of the private, third, and public sectors, and cannot be delivered by the Welsh Assembly Government alone. It emphasises the need for a wide range of stakeholders to ‘buy in’ to the vision of achieving digital inclusion.

The Framework explains the considerable benefits, individually and collectively, of people going online.  It also identifies the key groups of excluded people, the barriers they face and what steps can be taken to start addressing the issues.

We are holding four consultation events across Wales:

  • 29th June (North Wales) - Morfa Hall, Rhyl, 2 - 4pm
  • 6th July (South East Wales) - White Rose Information Centre, New Tredegar, 10 - 12pm
  • 7th July (South West Wales) - Swansea Waterfront Church, 9:30 - 11:30am
  • 19th July (Mid Wales) - Media Resource Centre, Llandrindod Wells, 2 - 4pm

To confirm attendance at these events, please e-mail: digitalinclusionmailbox@wales.gsi.gov.uk.

Following the consultation period, it is envisaged that a revised Framework will be published by the Welsh Assembly Government (during November/December 2010).

The consultation has been extended by one week to 16th September 2010.
