The Care Standards Act 2000 and extra care and supported housing
The purpose of this paper is to provide Inspectors with a list of key issues that need to be addressed in considering de-registration of supported housing.
It will also assist in determining the registration status of extra care schemes under the Care Standards Act 2000. Regard should also be had to the Welsh Assembly Government’s general published guidance on these matters: “Clarification of the Registration Requirements for Supported Housing and Extra Care Schemes under the Care Standards Act 2000”. De-registration is NOT an automatic process but will require a clear decision based on a careful consideration of the circumstances of each of the settings as to whether they meet the requirements for registration.
