Domiciliary care agencies 2007-2008

This report provides detailed information about our findings from looking at domiciliary care agencies in Wales.

There has been a small decrease in the number of domiciliary care agencies this year. However, this has been offset by an increase in the number of domiciliary care agencies providing in excess of 200 hours personal care which would suggest increased capacity.

Overall, there have been significant improvements in the quality of services provided across the sector.

Providers have responded positively and are well placed to meet the new requirements around quality assurance systems.

Workforce issues present a mixed picture, core aspects of recruitment practices such as CRBs, employment history and follow up for references have improved.

This year saw a decrease in the number of complaints dealt with by CSSIW and a decrease in the number of adult / child protection investigations that CSSIW were involved with either solely or in partnership with other agencies.
