Training Support Programme for the Personal Social Services: Progress Report for 2001-2002
The overall aim of the programme is to improve both the quality of social service
provision for children and adults, and the management of those services. It does this
by encouraging a more planned approach to training, and by increasing the take-up of
training. The specific objective of the Training Support Programme is to increase the
proportion of staff with appropriate qualifications, skills and knowledge for the work
they do.
This report focuses on the training activities undertaken by the 22 local authorities
in Wales, which were supported by the programme during 2001-2002. It also reports
on the investment made by local authorities during the period.
