Social Care Workforce Development Programme for the Personal Social Services: Progress Report 2007-2008
This is the fifth annual report on the Social Care Workforce Development Programme (SCWDP) for the Personal Social Services in Wales.
This report outlines how the SCWDP grant has supported the training and development of staff across the whole social care sector in respect of both attendances at training events and qualifications gained. It also outlines the programme's activities and outcomes for the year 2007-2008 and the investment made by local authorities during the period.
Main activities and outcomes for the year 2007-2008 were:
- Over 4,750 specified qualifications gained,
- Over 122,700 attendances at SCWDP funded events,
- 26,774 attendances at training events by staff from other social care emplyers and 8,186 attendances by staff from other agencies,
- 34,960 attendances by staff not directly employed by local authority social services.
