Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales

Review of children's services Denbighshire County Council

The purpose of the review is to provide an assessment of how well local people are served and to contribute to further improvement of services.

The authority has made considerable progress over the last three years in seeking to improve and develop service access and case management arrangements, and has been successful in developing a sound range of services available to children, young people and their families. There are generally effective access, referral and decision making processes in place. This is complemented by some sound elements of assessment and case management, with service provision that assists better outcomes for some children and families. Greater attention is needed across all areas of assessment and case management, including more effective management oversight, audit and input, along with improved provision of good quality services if the authority is to have in place services that consistently promote the well-being of children and young people and their families. Review of service access and eligibility criteria for disabled children is also required.
