Performance Evaluation of Conwy County Borough Council 2007

Over recent years the authority has shown considerable improvement in reshaping services, management of resources and performance management. This progress has continued in 2006-7. Some aspects of performance in children’s services require improvement.

The authority takes a realistic view of the evidence to substantiate its selfassessment that in most areas of service it is mainly good with some gaps and in some well established and effective and that it is mainly well-placed to sustain and improve services. It recognises inconsistency in children and family services assessments and where it is only partly meeting its aims in areas such as achieving better value, involving service users and carers and in effective management information systems. The latter is crucial to understanding and continually improving performance.
