Performance Evaluation of Newport County Borough Council 2007
This evaluation is based on evidence collated by CSSIW and material submitted by the authority.
The local authority has provided appropriate factual evidence to demonstrate progress achieved to date. The authority continues to signal improvements across all service areas and validates the further increased use of strategic management information as an integral part of its strategic planning and operational processes. Many of the underpinning strategic planning elements are now in place. The authority is justifiably turning its attentions to the measurement of outcomes and value for money in improved support and intervention for service users and carers. At the same time it has increased its monitoring of changing rates and patterns of service demand and the capacity of service areas to respond. In some areas, the authority needs to increase its rate of improvement in assessment and care management procedures.
