Performance evaluation of Monmouthshire County Council 2006
This evaluation is based on evidence collated by SSIW and material submitted by the authority.
Of last year’s priorities for improvement in the performance evaluation, the authority has done somewhat better in the timeliness of core assessments of children but its performance in respect of initial assessments has deteriorated. Initial statutory health screening of looked after children was still very poor in 2005-06 but performance in respect of reviews of such children’s health did improve considerably. The authority has taken steps to make better arrangements for staff to obtain the required qualifications and the rates of qualification are beginning to improve.
