32 gardening projects from across Wales are featured in the booklet. Activities include creating flower beds and hanging baskets to growing a wide range of vegetables.
The Gardening with Schools project was established by National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) Wales in 2005. They provided primary school children with the opportunity to gain practical experience of creating vegetable and wildlife areas. This involved taking part in hands-on activities such as planting, sowing and garden maintenance.
Since its establishment, NFWI members have voluntarily supported over 100 schools to develop and / or maintain their school gardens.
