Balmoral Tanks opens new factory in South Wales

The decision by Balmoral Tanks to open a new factory in South Wales, where it has already created thirty new jobs, has been welcomed by Business Minister Edwina Hart.
Thursday 24 May 2012

The new facility on Pontyclun’s Llantrisant Business Park will manufacture its range of commercial water storage tanks and it is expected that additional jobs will be created as the company grows.

Opening the new facility today, Mrs Hart said:

"I am delighted the company is re-investing in Wales and chose to base this new facility in Wales because they have been impressed by the quality of the workforce.

"Its good news to hear the company has already created thirty new jobs with potential for more and I wish them every success for the future and the Welsh Government will continue to work with Balmoral Tanks to support any future growth plans."

Balmoral has a long association with South Wales, through its acquisition in 2003 of Horseley Bridge Tanks, based in Taffs Well, and the decision to make a significant investment in the new facility was built on the success of the Horseley Bridge product.

Balmoral Tanks, a recognised global leader in its field, will be producing hot press moulded and steel sectional water storage tanks, as well as bolted cylindrical galvanized steel tanks, at the new facility.

Much of the company’s output is produced for overseas markets including mainland Europe, West Africa and the Middle East.

Balmoral Tanks’ managing director, Allan Joyce, said he was delighted to have consolidated the company’s water tanks manufacturing operations from various parts of the UK at Llantrisant.

"We are pleased to have such a significant presence in South Wales.  The area has an outstanding reputation for producing high quality goods.  Our company’s commitment to continuous improvement has taken us to the forefront of the global water storage market.

"As a company we are recognised for being innovative, customer focused and highly proactive.  These are traits that are synonymous with South Wales and we look forward to continuing our long and successful relationship with the local communities."

Balmoral Tanks operates predominantly in the environmental and civil engineering sectors where all products are monitored for their ecological impact.

The company’s water tanks are approved for the storage of potable water and for use in fire fighting sprinkler systems.
