Something Different Wholesale has invested over £250,000 in the expansion which was supported by £150,000 from the Wales Economic Growth Fund and officially launches its new Wholesale Showroom on Monday November 19.
The business, which is run by Jane and Martin Wallace Jones, moved from an 8,000 sq ft facility on Swansea Enterprise Park to 30,000 sq ft premises on the Morganite Works site in Llansamlet.
Business Minister Edwina Hart said she was delighted to hear of another expansion successfully concluded through Welsh Government support.
"The Economic Growth Fund was set up to provide fast track finance to enable businesses across all sectors to expand and create jobs and I am pleased to see it is doing just that, acting as a catalyst and helping to stimulate growth."
"We had simply outgrown where we were, we needed more space to fulfil increasingly large orders from other wholesalers and of course, our huge army of retailers, who wanted to buy new gift lines that we didn't have space to stock!
"Whilst we also invested heavily ourselves, the funding helped massively, we have been able to move to larger premises, we have a brand new on-site Trade Showroom, we've doubled the number of staff we are able to employ, and have increased the lines we are able to sell, improving selection and service for our customers.
"We're also sourcing and importing handmade products direct from craftsmen, which is more sustainable and supporting their livelihood whilst securing key jobs here in Swansea, so it really has been win/win for everyone."
The company launched its wholesale Cash and Carry warehouse and a trade only e-commerce website in 1999 and has expanded continually since. Last year the business turned over £2million and they anticipate this increasing to £2.3million this year with a steady year on year expansion of 30% despite the recession.
