"The mid-term report from the UK Children’s Commissioners clearly demonstrates the UK's commitment to promoting the knowledge and understanding of children’s rights. It identifies how much work we have achieved and also how much there is still to do.
“We are proud to say that in Wales, we are the first of the UK jurisdictions to incorporate the UN Convention on Rights of the Child into domestic law. The Rights of Children and Young Persons (Wales) Measure 2011 is one of the most important pieces of legislation for children and young people for many years and has enabled us to take such a historic step forward in supporting the rights of children and young people.
“It has been recognised internationally that Wales is becoming a force in promoting a rights-based approach for children and we will continue to work closely with the Children’s Commissioner in Wales to deliver our obligations.”
