Although the Minister will be unable to be present at the launch itself, he has sent his best wishes to the company ahead of an exciting year of events.  From March 2010, the company are planning to stage one production a month in a variety of locations across Wales.

The Minister said:

“A commitment to establish an English Language Theatre for Wales was included in the One Wales programme so I’m extremely pleased to see it happening.  This is a great opportunity to build on the success of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.”

“National Theatre Wales have an ambitious programme for their first year, which will attract a new audience and create exciting new works. I wish them all the best.”

Since the idea of an English-language theatre company was included in the One Wales programme for government, the Welsh Assembly Government is supporting National Theatre Wales with funding of £3million over three years.
