Much of the series has been filmed at Tal Y Braich, an exceptionally well preserved early 19th century smallholder’s cottage in Rhosgadfan, Caernarfon. Last autumn Cadw, the Welsh Assembly Government's historic environment service, awarded a grant of £52,500 towards a scheme of restoration works at the property, to include re-roofing, re-pointing and the re-instatement of windows.
Cadw officials worked closely with TV production company Indus Television as the property was prepared for filming. Further work is scheduled to take place at the cottage now that filming has finished.
The series, starts on Monday, 18 October, on BBC One Wales and continues every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 19:30 for three weeks. The Making Of Snowdonia 1890, will be shown on Sunday, 17 October at 18:30.
