Heritage Minister celebrates St David’s Day at Rhuddlan Castle

Around 60 pupils from Ysgol y Castell in Rhuddlan joined the Minister at the Castle to perform several songs and folk dancing.

Earlier in the day the Minister visited Yr Ysgwrn, home of Hedd Wyn, which has been secured for the nation thanks to support from the Welsh Government, the National Heritage Memorial Fund and Snowdonia National Park Authority.

The Minister said:

“St David’s Day is an opportunity for everyone in Wales to celebrate on our rich and diverse heritage. Watching these talented young children embracing traditional Welsh song and dance in the grounds of this historic monument demonstrates how our heritage continues to be valued today.

“I wish everyone is Wales, and anyone overseas with a Welsh connection, a happy St David’s Day. Dydd Gŵyl Dewi hapus i bawb.”

The Minister took the opportunity to remind people that entry to all Cadw sites is free on St David’s Day.
