Third historic environment workshop held in Llandudno

The third in a series of workshops to help shape Wales’ future historic environment policy was held in Llandudno yesterday (Monday 26 March).

Representatives from across the heritage sector met to consider the context for the historic environment and how this might influence future policy making, as developments for the forthcoming Heritage Bill continue.

The event was hosted by Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service, and took place at the Welsh Government’s office in Llandudno Junction.

Over 60 people attended the previous two workshops which were held in Cardiff Bay on 2 February and Aberystwyth on 2 March. Participants were asked to consider what the world might look like in the future and how this might impact on the way we value, conserve and benefit from the historic environment.

Housing, Regeneration and Heritage Minister Huw Lewis said,

“These workshops were set up specifically to discuss Wales’ historic environment and to consider what needs to be done in Wales to develop and protect its future.

“Experts and those with a personal interest in this subject have come together from across Wales to consider at the issues and opportunities. I look forward to reflecting on the discussions and consider how they can help in the development of the Heritage Bill.”

The Heritage Bill is planned for introduction in 2014-2015.
