Trinity College Carmarthen receives degree awarding powers

These new powers will enable Trinity to validate their own degrees as well as delivering University of Wales degrees.

Jane Hutt said:

This is excellent news for Trinity College Carmarthen. This is a significant step for them and recognises the progress they’ve made, the maturity of the institution and the strength of its lecturing staff. The award of Teaching Degree Awarding Powers provides considerable potential for the future development of the college.

I want to see a successful and vibrant Higher Education sector in Wales. We are making great progress in this area and today’s announcement, and the success of Trinity College bodes well for the future.

As a consequence of their new degree awarding powers, Trinity have also applied to the Privy Council for recognition of University College title. We are awaiting the outcomes from the Privy Council.
