Ministers call for continuous communication when making announcements on qualifications policy

Wales’ Education and Skills Minister Leighton Andrews AM and Minister for Education in the North of Ireland John O’Dowd MLA have today written to the Secretary of State for Education Michael Gove MP to raise concerns about a lack of prior notice on qualification policy announcements.
Wednesday 01 August 2012
In the letter, which follows a number of unilateral announcements from Mr Gove and a meeting between Mr Andrews and Mr O’Dowd, in July, the Ministers stress the importance of continuous communication when making announcements about jointly owned qualifications. This will help to reduce the scope for causing confusion and distress for those affected by policy changes by limiting the potential for mixed messages from the three administrations.
