Make someone’s Christmas – nominations for Youth Awards open

This Christmas people are being asked to nominate young people they feel deserve recognition for their hard-work and dedication to others.
Friday 21 December 2012

The Youth Work Wales Excellence Awards 2013, in conjunction with the local authority and voluntary Youth Service and the Welsh Government, are a chance for youth workers, youth projects and young people involved in youth work to be recognised by the communities they serve.

Nominations are being taken in a range of categories until the 4th January, and people are being urged to show their appreciation for the fantastic work of the young people this festive season and put them forward for an award.

The Deputy Minister for Skills, Jeff Cuthbert said:

“Talented and dedicated youth workers deserve to be rewarded for their achievements.

“Each year we hear inspiring stories of unsung heroes who have made such a difference to the lives of others. These awards are a chance for us to give something back and say thank you.”

The Awards will be held on the 21st February and will be hosted by Radio 1 DJ, Huw Stephens, who is dedicating his time to the cause for the second year running.

Huw Stephens said:

“I’m really pleased to be involved with the Youth Work Wales Excellence Awards again this year.

“It’s fantastic to see so many young people getting involved in various projects, working alongside dedicated youth workers.

“If you feel proud to be involved in a project; if you think your youth worker is just the best; or you’ve been inspired by a volunteer, why not nominate them? You’ve got until 4 January to send in your applications.”

If you know someone who deserves to be nominated then go to www.thankssam.org.uk and download an application form. Entries must be submitted by the 4th January.
