Appointment of Welsh representative to Food from Britain Council

Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones has announced the appointment of Professor Brian Morgan as the Welsh representative on the Food from Britain Council.
Monday 03 December 2007

Brian Morgan is currently Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Cardiff School of Management at the University of Wales in Cardiff. He is also Chairman of the Welsh Whisky Company and of Brecon Carreg mineral water.

Food from Britain generates international business for UK food and drink producers through an international network covering 34 markets. It is the market development network commissioned by the government to increase exports of UK food and drink, and to support the growth of quality regional food producers.

Elin Jones said:

Professor Morgan is a well respected entrepreneurial academic who has played a leading role in making Penderyn Welsh Whisky one of our most promising exporting companies. I am delighted with his appointment and confident that he will make a valuable contribution to the work of Food from Britain.

Lady Sylvia Jay, Chair of Food from Britain, said:

Professor Morgan’s skills and strategic experience will be extremely useful in Council. HE will bring both theoretical and practical knowledge to our deliberations, which will be most important during these changing and challenging times. I am most grateful to the Welsh Assembly for making this appointment.
