500 new jobs planned as Toyoda Gosei officially opened

First Minister Carwyn Jones will welcome a major boost to manufacturing in Wales when he officially opens Toyoda Gosei’s new site in Gorseinon.
Thursday 19 April 2012

The Japanese car parts company plans to create more than 500 new jobs at the plant over the next five years. The Welsh Government backed facility will produce interior parts for cars from this year and Toyoda Gosei has invested more than £10 million in the factory.

The automotive industry is central to the economy of Wales, with 150 companies employing over 20,000 people.

The First Minister said:

"This is another vote of confidence in Wales and Welsh manufacturing. This investment, supported by the Welsh Government, will create 500 new highly skilled jobs. This is a real boost for the local economy.

"It is a pleasure to celebrate the grand opening of this new site. The fact Toyoda Gosei opted to place this factory here in Wales shows that as a country we have a workforce that can compete for world-class manufacturing facilities. My government will continue to do all that we can to help Toyoda Gosei grow and prosper."
