Opening the Aberconwy Domestic Abuse one stop shop in Llandudno Junction, Minister for Local Government and Communities Carl Sargeant said that the facility would enhance the services being provided to the families and victims of domestic abuse in the area.

Aberconwy Domestic Abuse Service One Stop Shop was set up to provide a tailor made service and facility for people who want to discuss the issues surrounding domestic abuse and community safety. It supports both male and female victims of domestic abuse.

Carl Sargeant said:

"I am delighted that the Welsh Government was able to approve funding of up to £138,000 in 2010/11 to pay for the renovation of the building.  This signals, even in these difficult economic times, how determined I am to ensure victims are supported here in North Wales and across Wales.  I know that everybody involved in the project is excited to be working from a dedicated building that is fit for purpose.

"Being able to deliver services in an environment such as this is key to promoting dignity and respect for those who are victims of violence against women and domestic abuse. They will now be able to talk to professionals in safe, comfortable and confidential surroundings.

"I would like to thank Aberconwy Domestic Abuse Services for their perseverance in developing this vital service."
