Performance of Welsh Councils in the spotlight

Local Government Minister Carl Sargeant explained that it is important to continue to engage citizens, as users of local authority services, when looking at how well public services are performing.

The Minister said: 

“The backdrop of increasingly difficult financial circumstances coupled with increasing demand for public services makes it more important than ever that we focus on improving performance. It is right that citizens are able to question those that are responsible for running local services for variations in performance.”

He added: 

“This edition contains the latest performance data and builds on the previous edition by including a more comprehensive set of indicators and data sources.

“I hope that the data will stimulate continued and meaningful debate and would welcome any constructive feedback.”
