To further the Assembly Government’s Social Justice objectives, the Minister for Social Justice and Local Government, Carl Sargeant, is distributing to local authorities around £4.5 million in capital funding and around £5.5 million more in revenue funding.
Carl Sargeant said,
“The extra money I am allocating is much needed and will help local authorities to maintain their spending programmes for the next financial year.
“By using this money to fund spending programmes that are already in progress, they can free up resources for future year spends.
I am sure that the additional resources I am making available to address the very significant in year pressures that local government children services are facing will also be welcomed. Only by investing in prevention and early intervention services for vulnerable children can we keep families together and reduce the need for social care and related health services.”
