The group was set up in 2004 by the Welsh Assembly Government to provide independent expert advice to help inform policies to improve the lives of older people in Wales and plan for the implications of an ageing society.
Wendy Bourton OBE, the chief executive of Care and Repair Cymru, replaces Dr Malcolm Fisk who has completed his four-year term as chair.
Gwenda Thomas said:
I would like to pay tribute to Dr Fisk for his hard work and commitment as chair in helping deliver our Strategy for Older People.
Wales is seen as a leader when it comes to older people’s issues and I want that reputation to continue. Wales, like the rest of the UK, is getting older and this is cause for celebration. But as we get older our needs change and it is therefore important that we plan effectively to meet future needs.
The Forum has an important role in the implementation of phase two of the Assembly Government’s Older People’s Strategy and will help ensure that our policies meet the needs of older people.
I am delighted that Wendy has accepted my invitation to become the new chair of the National Partnership Forum. Wendy was previously the Housing Sector representative on the National Partnership Forum and so brings with her not only an extensive knowledge of the ageing agenda but also the right blend of leadership and personal qualities to ensure she will make a success of her new role.

I welcome the opportunity of making a contribution to the work of the National Partnership Forum in partnership with its members and the Welsh Assembly Government.
