Minister praises work to highlight the barriers facing disabled people

Social Justice Minister, Carl Sargeant today praised the work of Disability Wales in highlighting the barriers that disabled people face in their everyday lives.
Friday 03 December 2010

Last year the Assembly Government awarded Disability Wales a £20,000 grant from the Advancing Equality Fund towards their ‘Words to Wales: Disabled People Write their Lives’ project.

This project aims to promote knowledge and understanding of the barriers faced by disabled people in everyday life in Wales through poetry, prose and performance.

Carl Sargeant said:

“It is fitting that the online guide and exhibition that have been created via this project are being launched on the International Day for People with Disabilities.

“Improving services for disabled people across Wales is a priority for the Welsh Assembly Government.  I hope that this project and the International Day for People with Disabilities raises the profile of the issues disabled people face.”
