Minister welcomes new information resource

Social Justice Minister, Carl Sargeant today welcomed a new resource that draws together information on violence against women and domestic abuse services in Wales.
Thursday 31 March 2011

Carl Sargeant said,

“When I launched the 'The Right to be Safe' strategy last year I said that developing comprehensive information about domestic abuse services across Wales was a key task.

“I am pleased to say that this has been done and our website now includes comprehensive information on services available nationally and locally that will help to assist victims and those working to tackle this dreadful crime. It also provides information for perpetrators seeking help to address their offending behaviour.

“Domestic violence blights thousands of lives and it is important that we do all we can to tackle this heinous crime. The Welsh Assembly Government is continuing to invest substantial sums in tackling this problem, with total spend in the current year budget of around £4 million.

“However, it is also important that victims and support workers know what services are available across Wales. I am sure making this information readily available will make a real difference.”
