Mr Griffiths told a packed venue:
“We know that people have to change their lives if we are to tackle climate change, and if our communities are to become more sustainable. We know that people look to organisations that they trust to lead the way.
“This is why the commitment of the organisations here today to sustainable development is so important. Your customers, shareholders, suppliers and employees are all much more likely to rise to the challenge of sustainable development if they see you leading the way. Your role as leaders is therefore vitally important to all our efforts to make Wales more sustainable.
“This is another good reason why you should be active in sharing and distributing the good work you have done – showing how you have enhanced the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of our communities. Be proud of your commitment to sustainable development, and make sure that part of the legacy of your work is the opportunity for others to learn from your experience. In this way you will actively help promote the behavioural change that is required. This is our vision for the Sustainable Development Charter – that we all use the network actively to enable us to become a more sustainable nation, more quickly.”
