The annual festival, which has benefitted from £52,200 of Welsh Government funding, has been described as the Cannes festival of the food world and attracts thousands of visitors to the town.
This year, highlights include masterclasses by top Welsh Chefs Bryn Williams from Odette’s of Primrose Hill; Angela Hartnett from Murano and James Sommerin from the Crown at Whitebrook and the Crown at Celtic Manor as well as other chefs from all over the World.
Visitors can follow the Wales the True Taste trail to find exhibitors who have been awarded the Welsh Government’s badge of excellence to find top quality local produce. 32 Wales the True Taste companies will be exhibiting at Abergavenny this year.
Top Welsh restaurants will also be showcased at the Great Welsh Restaurant Taster, where foodies can sample food from restaurants from all over Wales in one venue.
Other attractions include a Children’s Food Academy; tutored tasting sessions; discussions on subjects as diverse as diet and nutrition, truffle hunting and growing your own food; and guided food themed walks. There will also be street theatre, entertainment in the castle grounds and live music.
