Schemes that have been successful in their bid to receive the capital monies include:
- Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr – highway improvements, Caerphilly - £99,000
- Access to Port Talbot Industrial Estate – £850,000
- Section 2 of the Wrexham Industrial Estate access road - £7,274,000
Carl Sargeant said:
“This investment will allow Local Authorities across Wales to improve their transport infrastructure and at the same time provide a considerable boost to the local economies in terms of safeguarding jobs.”
“ People using these routes will not only see a marked improvement both in terms of travel time and road safety as a result of this welcome funding but also enhanced transport links for business.”
This investment will secure over £30million of European Regional Development Funding in 2012/13 that will also be invested in improving local transport infrastructures.
This latest announcement follows the £25million distributed between the four transport consortia in Wales last week.
The funding will enable each regional transport consortium to deliver schemes to support their Regional Transport Plans and improve road safety across Wales.
