Lgo28 Prayers during council meetings

12 April 2012. You asked for a list of the costs and amounts of money to which the Minister for Local Government and Communities referred to as justification for refusal to take action so that Welsh Councillors may continue to hold prayers during their meetings as in England

12 April 2012

Dear ,

Thank you for clarifying your request regarding prayers in council meetings. You asked for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the costs referred to in the Minister’s letter to you of 6 March.

I am afraid that I have not found any information that fits this description, as the Minister’s letter does not reference cost as a consideration when taking the decision not to extend the general power of competence contained within section 1 of the Localism Act 2011 to Wales.  If you are able to send me further details of the specific information you require I will look again to see whether we hold any information.

If you believe that I have not followed the relevant laws, or you are unhappy with this response, you may request an internal review by writing to:

Reg Kilpatrick
Director

When dealing with any concerns, we will follow the principles set out in the Welsh Government’s Code of Practice on Complaints which is available on the Internet at www.wales.gov.uk or by post.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner. Normally, however, you should provide us with an opportunity to undertake an internal review before you complain to the Information Commissioner.  The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
