To consider a proposal submitted by the north Wales Credit Union Chapter to operate a basic banking platform.

The Minister for Social Justice and Local Government agreed to fund the proposals for a North Wales Credit Union Banking Platform at a total cost of £187,000 revenue in 2007-2008.

Statement of information:
Ministers have been asked to consider proposals from the North Wales Credit Union Chapter to:
• Establish a basic banking platform at Llandudno and District Credit Union at a cost of £100,000.
• Fund specialist consultation services to be provided by ABCUL which will enable the formation of one North Wales Credit Union at a cost of £27,000.
• Fund network upgrades at 6 north Wales credit unions which will enable them to offer the banking platform to their members once the merger is completed at a cost of £60,000.
