Decision reports

The Welsh Government is committed to making the basis of Ministerial decision making more transparent.

In March 2002, the First Minister made a statement on Freedom of Information which included the committment to publish the background information provided to inform the decisions made by Ministers. The First Minister commented "while advice on policy will remain confidential, the facts and analysis in relation to that advice will be seperate so that the factual analysis in relation to the advice can be disclosed"

From 1 July 2003, the facts and factual analysis upon which Ministers have taken decisions have been published through Decision Reports.

Prior to 2011 the Decision Reports are catalogued following the central Government cataloguing scheme the Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary. From Jan 2011, Decision Reports are catalogued in line with the Welsh Government’s website topic headings with the addition of categories for Government (for decisions relating to central Welsh Government functions) and Subordinate Legislation (for decisions relating to the making of secondary legislation).
