Grant funding for MEDIA Antenna Wales

The Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science has approved that funding of £42,962.50 be provided by the Welsh Government to match-fund the £42,962.50 provided by the EACEA for the activities of MEDIA Antenna Wales for the financial year 2012-2013.

The Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science is asked to approve match funding for MEDIA Antenna Wales for the 2012/2013 financial year totaling £42,962.50

Section 60 (1) (a) of the Government of Wales Act 2006 provides that the  Welsh Ministers may do anything they consider appropriate to promote or improve the economic well-being of Wales and subsection (4) states that the power includes power to enter into arrangements or agreements or to co-operate with any person.

Section 62 of the Government of Wales Act 2006 provides that the Welsh Ministers may make appropriate representations about any matter affecting Wales.

Sections 70 and 71 of the Government of Wales Act 2006 empower the Welsh Ministers to provide financial assistance (whether by way of grant, loan or guarantee) to any person engaged in any activity which the Ministers consider will secure, or help to secure, the attainment of any objectives which they aim to attain in the exercise of any of their functions.  Section 71 is a supplementary power to do anything calculated to promote or is incidental to the exercise of any of the Ministers’ other functions.
